what is hosting

A web hosting service is a type of service that allows individuals and organizations to make their websites accessible through the World Wide Web. Web hosts are companies that provide space for clients to own or lease servers as well as an Internet connection, usually in a data center. Web hosts provide data center space and a connection to the Internet for other servers located in their data center.

Until 1991, the Internet was limited to use only for "science and engineering research and education" and was used for email, telnet, FTP and Us Net traffic.

The World Wide Web Protocols were just written, and by the end of 1993 there would be no graphical web browsers for Mac or Windows computers. Even with some access to the Internet, the situation was confusing until 1999.

To host a website on the Internet, a person or organization needed their own computer or server so if those organizations had this service out of their budget or skills, then web hosting service companies started giving users to their servers clients to host websites. You don't have to have the necessary infrastructure to do that.

Website owners, also called webmasters, were able to create a website that would be hosted on a web hosting service server and published on the web by the web hosting service.

As the number of users on the World Wide Web grows, so does the pressure to increase the online presence of both large and small organizations. By 1995, companies like GOVT, Angel fire and Tripod were offering free hosting.

Types of Server

  • Shared web hosting service

A website is placed on an equivalent server like other sites. Typically, all domains can share a standard pool of server resources, such as RAM and CPU. Resellers often have reseller accounts for shared web hosting and web companies provide hosting to clients.

  • Reseller web hosting

Allows clients to provide their own web host service. Under any combination of this type of hosting, resellers can operate for individual domains, calculating what is allowed as reseller. Resellers' accounts can vary drastically in size. An integrated server will have their own virtual dedicated server.

  • Virtual private server

Known as Virtual Private Server (VPS), the server splits resources into virtual servers, where resources are often allocated in a way that does not directly reflect the underlying hardware.
For most VPS connections, VPS will often be allocated resources on a server basis, but virtualization often spreads a number of factors, including the ability to transfer VPS holders between servers. Users can have root access in their own virtual space.

  • Dedicated hosting service

The user gets his own web server and has complete control over it (the user has access to Windows / Administrator for Linux); However the user does not usually own the server. One type of dedicated hosting is the minimum cost for self-managed or unman-aged dedicated plans. The user has full administrative access to the server which suggests that the client is responsible for the security and maintenance of its own dedicated server.

  • Managed hosting Service

In this type of hosting the user gets his own web server but does not have complete control over it, but is allowed to manage their data or server through FTP or other remote management. The user has no problem switching or configuring on another server and the user is not allowed full control to maintain the quality of the service. The user does not usually own the server.

  • Cloud hosting

It is a replacement type of hosting platform that allows customers to have robust, salable and reliable hosting supported cluster load-balancing servers and utility billing. Cloud hosted websites are often more reliable than alternatives because other computers in the cloud can compensate when they move under a piece of hardware.

Problems due to natural disasters due to local power outages or decentralization of cloud hosting are less. Cloud hosting providers allow users to charge only for user-appointed corporate instead of flat fees or hard and fast expenses for hardware investments in anticipation of how much cash users will use.

Alternatively the lack of centralization may give users less control over where their data is found. This will be a pull for users who are concerned about data protection or privacy.

  • Grid hosting

This form of distributed hosting works when the server acts as a cluster grid type and has multiple nodes.

  • Home server

A single machine typically housed during a private residence cannot typically host one or more Internet sites from a customer-grade broadband connection. These are often purpose-built machines or even older PCs.

Some ISPs try to actively block home servers by denying incoming requests to the TCP port 80 of user connections and rejecting fixed IP addresses.

A standard thank you for getting the name of a trusted DNS host is to create an account with dynamic DNS services. A dynamic DNS service will automatically change the IP address topoint to a URL if the IP address changes.
